i. of the loomder zwirn

let it first be set down: uzor is a library, not a framework — small, written in rust, and given freely under the mit. its trade is the weaving of native applications from jsx-like documents; its tools are five only, and the rest is paper.

these five are: render, that giveth colour unto every shape; animation, that turneth stillness into time; dispatch, that heareth the user and answereth; layout, that holdeth flex, grid and dock alike; and surface, that openeth a window upon the world.

presets are six in number, each a different cloak; surfaces are four, each a different window. all the rest is up to the scribe, who writeth jsx and waiteth.

much may be said of frameworks, but nothing here. uzor is a library only; that is to say, the scribe holdeth the pen, and the loom doth but receive what is brought to it. the binary, when finished, knoweth nothing of the web.

ii. of the spreadder setzkasten

upon the type-case of this manual are set blackletter for the title, garamond for the body, and minuscule italic for the byways. nothing more is asked of paper than that it bear ink, and nothing more of ink than that it bind unto the paper. the loom asketh the same of its parts.

the page is given twin columns, justified by hand, with a hair rule between, that the eye may travel down one side and up the other without strain. so much for the page; let the loom now have its turn.

the binary, woven, weigheth three megabytes and four hundred kilobytes — a folio, no more. it openeth in the time that a candle taketh to be lit, and closeth in the same. its windows are docked or floating; its bays are flexible or square; its motion is sprung, or none.
